IHPA publishes a number of products for the AR-DRG and ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS classification systems in the form of books and electronic code lists.

The countries that are currently licenced to use the ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS classification system can be found on the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority (IHPA) website.

Account Types

ACCOUNT TYPE PURPOSE
PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNT Professional Account is usually applicable to professionals or other individuals seeking to purchase the System products for personal or professional use in the health sector or in hospital settings.
STUDENT ACCOUNT If you are currently a student enrolled at an education institution and require the AR-DRG Classification System products for the purpose of your study, you can create a Student Account. Once registered with a Student Account, you are eligible to receive discounts when purchasing some volumes of the ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS.

Electronic Code Lists

Electronic Code Lists (ECLs) are electronic files presented in comma delimited text format (.txt) that are used in the development of software or are integrated into existing patient software using the ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes for private or commercial purposes.

To access the ECLs you will need to register an ECL account and apply for a licence.

Software developers can create software products for the System such as billing tools, electronic medical record systems and other e-tools. These software products can contextualise the information within the System and provide interfaces that allow users to operate the System.

Australian based Organisation/Business entities such as private hospitals or data reporters may apply for ECLs for incorporating or updating local internal systems.

Mapping tables for ICD-10-AM and ACHI

  • Backward maps – provides equivalent code for new codes in the newer edition
  • Forward maps – provides equivalent codes for deleted codes in the newer edition

Both of these types of maps provide an equivalent code that best matches the concept from a clinical perspective (called historical maps) as well as an AR-DRG perspective (called logical maps). Sometimes the historical map and the logical map are the same code.
